It’s no surprise that we have a big time crush on Big Time Rush. So when we got them to be our Guest Editor of the week? Elated doesn’t even begin to describe it. We got the guys, who also happen to be performing at the Kids’ Choice Awards this weekend, (coincidence? We think not) to spill on some of our fave things — fashion, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Glee and tons more.

So make sure to check back all week to see what Carlos, James, Logan and Kendall have to say! Ok?!

On Saturday evening, amid a night of new episodes of Victorious and True Jackson VP, Big Time Rush — the fledgling boy-band created by Nickelodeon via the teen-bopping series of the same name — debuted their latest music video for their pop ditty “Boyfriend,” a collaboration with Snoop Dogg. (See EW’s First Look at the Snoop’s guest spot on the series back in November.) And you know what? The song is actually kinda totally infectious and fun — so much so that I can’t get it out of my head for days and days afterward. What I’m saying is: I’m a fan of Big Time Rush. Yes, yes, in the scheme of boy bands of all time, it remains to be seen if Big Time Rush will be remembered like the greats New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys and ‘NSYNC. (The real meter of success is: Will I be karaoking “Boyfriend” in 10 years like I karaoked “I Want It That Way” last Saturday night?) But, truly, you never know what Big Time Rush could become, right? Super stardom is possible. Heck, they’re working with Snoop, which is always a good sign.

So with that, I’m happy to bring you a little behind-the-scenes video from the “Boyfriend” music video shoot. In it, the cuties — that’d be Kendall, 20; James, 20; Carlos, 21; and Logan, 21—tell us how and why they made the music video, what it was like working with Snoop, and lots more. And beyond that — in true, teen-zine fandom craziness! — you’ll find some candid answers from the guys on a number of hot-hot-hot topics, ranging from their vices while recording and dream collaborators to what kind of music they listened to while growing up and what boy bands they love. Enjoy!

And now for those quick Q&A sessions with the boys…

JAMES DAVID MASLOW, 20
What boy bands out there do you think are great—and why?
Looking at the past, ‘NSYNC was the greatest in my opinion. They literally spent years rehearsing before they did any major tour and thanks to that, they were a well-oiled machine. Justin Timberlake is a prime example of how a truly talented artist can then transition from a group into a successful solo career, and the lesson I take from that is to never stop training and striving to get better.

Who are your celebrity crushes?
I have had a crush on Emma Watson since the first Harry Potter. No, I haven’t met her yet, but a guy can hope.

What do you look for in a girl?
For me to be interested in a girl, she has to have an outgoing personality and a passion of her own. Low maintenance is nice, too.

Enjoying the ride of success in Nickelodeon’s TV series “Big Time Rush”, Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena Jr. and Logan Henderson might never imagine they would also end up on the brink of stardom in music industry. But, here they are breaking the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 200 after only one debut album which is a self-titled.
Making its way out in the United States on October 11, “B.T.R.” led these four good-looking guys to sit at No. 3 on the country albums chart. The album made the notable debut with 67,000 units sold in its first week of release. Also, it peaked at No. 5 on Top Internet Albums chart and ruled Top Internet Soundtracks list.
Now, Big Time Rush try to make it bigger and showcase their music to broader audience by mapping a promo tour. Once the TV series wraps its second season which is around Spring, they are expected to be on the road across North America and fly across the pond for some live concerts in Australia and New Zealand.
Of what to expect from them when they will be touring across the country, James told ArtistDirect, “When we tour around the country, it’s going to mean, ‘We’re partying. This city is ours. Let’s rock out and have a good time. Everybody believe you’re meant to be here’.”

BTR, the debut album from Nickelodeon/Columbia band Big Time Rush, enters the Billboard Top 200 chart at #3 in its first week of release with over 66,000 units sold. The set exploded at both physical and digital retail outlets, making the album one of the highest charting debut albums in the U.S. this year. The band has also now sold one million digital tracks to date, an incredible milestone for a new artist to reach on the heels of their debut album’s release.

Big Time Rush – Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena, Logan Henderson – kicked off their release week with a 2-song performance on NBC’s The Today Show, which marked the start of a whirlwind week of promotional events that saw the band visit 8 major markets in just 6 days. The band brought “Big Time Mania” to in-store signings in every market they visited – drawing thousands of frenzy-filled fans to each event. The busy week culminated with a massive performance and signing at the Best Buy Rotunda in the Mall of America, which drew over 7,000 screaming fans.

Big Time Rush will continue their 13 market promo tour on October 25, with an in-store signing event at the FYE in the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood at Universal Citywalk. Other cities on the schedule include San Francisco, Phoenix, St. Louis, Chicago, and Boston. Details on Big Time Rush events can be found on BTRband.com.

BTR consists of original songs from the hit Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush, including the current hit “Til I Forget About You.” For their debut album, Big Time Rush teamed up with some of the top producers and writers today, such as Kevin Rudolf (Leona Lewis, Lil Wayne), Claude Kelly (Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears), S*A*M and Sluggo (Boys Like Girls, We The Kings, Gym Class Heroes) and OFM (Jay Sean).

Since the launch of the show – the highest-rated and most-watched live-action series premiere with kids, tweens and total viewers (6.8 million) in the history of Nickelodeon – the members of Big Time Rush have ridden a wave of success. In this week’s special Halloween episode – airing this Friday at 8pm EDT on Nickelodeon – the band performs the new song “Big Night,” which is already a fan favorite from the new album.

Big Time Rush, produced in partnership with Sony Music, follows four best friends from Minnesota – Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan – as they trade in their hockey sticks and parkas for a chance at music superstardom in Los Angeles. With a few misadventures along the way, the boys quickly find out that life in Hollywood is not all about hanging at the pool and attending parties. After proving to themselves and their record label that they are serious about their musical career, Big Time Rush are now ready for the next phase of their personal and professional lives. Between juggling the demands of their newfound fame, romantic relationships, finding their own personal musical style and homework the group learns that success comes with hard work and dedication – and the support of one another.

From North Jersey.com – Hey, hey, they’re “Big Time Rush.” And if there was anything bigger happening in the world Monday than their CD signing, there was no convincing the hundreds of screaming fans at Willowbrook Mall.

This mall frenzy was exactly what Nickelodeon and Sony hoped for when they began their partnership three years ago, looking to combine television and music into a marketer’s dream. Meet James, Carlos, Kendall and Logan, the stars of “Big Time Rush” on Nickelodeon and the members of the band by the same name that released its first CD Monday.

The 600 CDs and wristbands that guaranteed meeting the band and getting an autograph were sold out last week. Hundreds more were sold Monday, and the band signed as many as they could before hopping on the tour bus and heading to Philadelphia for another event. The four sat onstage greeting ecstatic fans as their self-titled CD blared and girls screamed and camera flashes went off continuously.

“It’s very weird,” says James Maslow of the newfound fame for him and his three cast mates and BTR band mates, Carlos Pena, Kendall Schmidt and Logan Henderson. “Big Time Rush,” the show, is in its second season. It follows four friends from Minnesota who moved to Los Angeles and are trying to make it as a band. The show employs a lot of goofy, physical comedy for which it’s often compared to “The Monkees.” Because of the similarities, executive producer Scott Fellows told the band to YouTube at least one episode of the 1960s show starring Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith.

“We recognize it and make fun of it in a very positive way,” says Maslow, 20.

“Big Time Rush” even did their own little homage to “The Monkees” — on one episode the guys put Carlos in a bathtub and wheeled him around in their pajamas.

The reference is lost on their core fans, of course, but not their parents. And much like The Monkees and the boy bands that have come and gone since, almost everybody online had a favorite. But, somewhat surprisingly, it wasn’t just tween girls waiting nervously to meet the band. The crowd reflected Nickelodeon’s 6- to 14-year-old demographic, boys and girls, and pushed through that to older female fans as well.

The time-tested boy band recipe has put another group’s poster on bedroom walls across the country and changed the lives of the four stars dramatically.

“It is slightly more difficult to get around in malls,” says Maslow.

In the Nickelodeon movie Big Time Concert, the Big Time Rush foursome dreams that they play a gig in New York City. In real life the guys performed their first concert in New York’s Times Square, making stars James Maslow, Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson and Carlos Pena’s dreams come true.

“Our first concert is in Times Square, it’s kind of crazy,” Pena told TVGuide.com in June after the show. “I don’t think we could’ve anticipated how cool that was going to be,” Schmidt added.

In Friday’s movie (8/7c), which marks the Season 1 finale, the band gets bad news the night before their first CD is to be released. They head back to their hometowns to focus on other goals, but then decide to return to LA and move forward with planning their first concert.

In Friday night’s one-hour “Big Time Rush” movie, “Big Time Concert,” the guys dream of playing a gig in the middle of Times Square.

In real life, they actually did.

“It was so surreal that it doesn’t even seem real,” Logan Henderson told the Daily News a day after more than 2,500 fans crammed the streets of New York’s crossroads to see he and his co-stars perform live.

“What we filmed was a dream sequence [for the episode], which is ironic because it was a real dream for us,” said Henderson.

“Big Time Rush,” which airs Fridays at 8 on Nickelodeon, features Henderson, Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow and Carlos Pena as best friends and bandmates in the up-and-coming group Big Time Rush.

The show’s premiere was the highest-rated live-action series premiere in the network’s history, with 6.8 million viewers. And these guys don’t just play a singing group on TV, they are one. Their first album, “B.T.R.,” will drop on Oct. 11, and their music video for “City Is Ours” is No. 6 on iTunes.

Friday night’s special revolves around the release of the TV version of the band’s debut album. A nationwide tour and first live concert are all planned in the show, but there’s a crisis when the head of the record label cancels everything.

“All of this stuff goes awry,” said Maslow. “But everything works out in the end.”

The same could be said of the Times Square performance. Maslow says that right before they hit the stage, series creator Scott Fellows (who also developed “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide”) told them everything would be fine, as long as it didn’t rain.

So what happened? It poured. Still, the concert went off without a hitch. Schmidt said that fighting the elements was actually pretty cool.

“I think we all had our first rock-star-feeling moment there,” said Schmidt.

It wasn’t the only one.

“I blew a kiss out to the audience and like 18 girls’ eyes lit up,” said Henderson. “Each one thought it was directly to them.” Speaking of girls, now that they’re TV stars and in a famous band, you’d think it must be pretty easy for the guys in Big Time Rush, who range in age from 19 to 21, to find a date for Friday night.

Not necessarily, said Maslow.

“It’s actually harder dealing with girls now,” Maslow said. “It’s harder to tell how sincere they are – if they like you for you or because you’re becoming successful. And we work so much that even if you find an amazing girl, it’s really hard to keep it going, because we don’t see them enough.”

They’re not too worried about all that now, though. Not while they’re having so much fun.

“I can’t believe Nickelodeon still funds the show, because it’s like complete mayhem on the set,” said Schmidt. “But we also realize this is a big responsibility. There’s just four of us, so we have to stick together and be like brothers. Brothers from other mothers.”

The dark lord of the Sith becomes the duck lord of The Peabody when esteemed actor James Earl Jones — famous for providing the voice of Darth Vader — comes to Memphis to act in “Master’s Tree,” a Christmas story inspired by the Mississippi-based Palmer Home for Children that begins shooting here April 19.

The film’s star is rising teen sensation James Maslow, a 19-year-old acting-and-singing heartthrob known for his role in the current Nickelodeon series “Big Time Rush.”

To be directed by David Mickey Evans (“The Sandlot”), “Master’s Tree” is the story of several parentless children, led by Maslow, who leave the Palmer Home campus in Mississippi for a comic and dramatic adventure that takes them to Memphis at Christmastime, where they come under the wing of The Peabody duckmaster, played by Jones (who acted in the Memphis-made “A Family Thing” in 1996).

The runaways are inspired by noble motives: They leave the Palmer Home to make way for three motherless children, who arrive at the home needing a place to stay.

He’s worked very, very hard to be where he is,” notes Maslow. “I’ve yet to meet him. I think at this point, I deserve to meet him. I’ve been compared to him a lot,” he adds with a laugh. “I’ve heard great things about him both personally and professionally so I think it’s cool if people see me getting to his level. If in a year or two, if I’m still getting that, I might get annoyed. I hope, eventually, I’ll establish my own name.”

So far, fans are tuning in steadily to the show about four best friends who unexpectedly fall into pop stardom. The role is a dream come true for the young star, who has been singing since he was 6. “We’ve all become really, really close very quickly. I think it’s a unique relationship that we bring to music because we all have very different styles and voices. We can listen to it and pick out each voice very distinctly, and they seem to really complement each other in a very cool way.”

The guys, who record their own music for the show, are even contemplating going on tour during hiatus. “Right now’s nothing’s official as to when we’re going to go and where we’re going to go. It wouldn’t be until the summer because we’re filming. Until then, we’re going to keep releasing singles. At the end of the season, we’ll have our album so if we can tour as well, it will just be icing on the cake because I’ve always wanted to do that.”
